AN EYE ON
THE BACK TRAIL
25.5”h x 17”w x 14”d edition: 20
Fritz White
The constant pressure exerted on the Apache during the
late 1870”s and 1880”s due to the encroachment of white pioneers, resulted in
bloody wars.
The Apache conducted many raids on the “invaders”. These guerilla attacks were
without warning and were generally over as quickly as they began. In the end
the Apache had to go into hiding. The sculpture depicts the young brave
entrusted as a sentinel, watching the “back trail”, to observe any pursuit that
may be following the warriors back their lair. |
