Every year since 1989 Fritz White produced a Grandmother, a figure presented in their simplest form with just enough elaboration to excite the action of the subject.

"The mood I want to create is calm, deliberate and loving, never frenzied," said Fritz. In the Pueblo society, the Grandmother is a driving force for all seasons: their wisdom and love makes this so.
